What is Dare the Boss?
Dare the Boss is a unique & fun way for your boss, your team or yourself to take on a creative challenge, step outside the box, conquer a fear and be brave to raise money for Children’s Cancer Institute to help their research find a cure for every child with cancer.
How can I dare my boss?
Simply click the 'issue a dare' tab to pre-register your boss with a suggested dare, an email will be sent to them with a link to invite them to register either themselves or a team.
How much does it cost?
Registration is free, however we ask that participants cover the cost of their dare (if any) so that all funds raised can be used to make a difference with our research.
What happens once I register?
After registering you can navigate and click directly to personalise your fundraising page, or a web link will be emailed to you for you to personalise your page later. After you have personalised your page, bring your network along on your journey by forwarding the URL link from your page to your friends, family, staff, suppliers, customers or anyone that may want to support you.

Apart from telling your network what inspiring dare or challenge you are up to, we have some great fundraising tips in our toolkit. Try and allow yourself 4 weeks to optimise fundraising and treat it like a mini campaign with a beginning (first push) , middle (2nd push) and end (final push to reach target). Can I dare myself?
Absolutely! You can complete the registration for yourself and also invite your team and social network to either “join your team” or support you in this very important cause.
How do I donate to a individual , team/company?
Clicking the 'sponsor a dare' tab at the top right hand side of the page will take you to all of the fundraising pages. Simply search by team name, first name or last name of the person you wish to support.
What should my fundraising target be?
Shoot for the stars! As a minimum, we like to suggest a $2600 per dare for an individual or small business and $5200 for a larger business/ corporate. $2600 is the equivalent of funding life-saving minimal residual disease testing for an Australian child at high chance of relapse from leukemia.
When can I do my dare?
Registrations open in June, so register early and you can do your dare anytime after that. We recommend a minimum of 4 weeks prior to optimise fundraising and reach your target. We are also encouraging people to consider taking on the challenge to leverage International Childhood Cancer Awareness month in September. However, don't be discouraged if you your timing is earlier or later, just have fun, whenever!
Can I register a dare on someone's behalf?
We encourage employees to issue a dare to their bosses and once agreed, you can register on their behalf.
Will I be insured?
You will not be insured through Children's Cancer Institute. Most 3rd party activity suppliers will have their own insurance and indemnity waivers, however if you are taking on your own challenge we do advise notifying your company's insurance advisor to get your own advice and check whether the activity would already covered as part of their business.
Can I continue to fundraise after my dare?
Absolutely, often if a dare is set and the participant has not reached their goal they will continue to fundraise until they reach their target.
Can I dare more than one person or someone that isn't a "boss"?
Absolutely! Why not have a few bosses agree to take a dare OR just create a "dare team" from anyone in your team. Dare the boss is not limited to a title, bosses come in different forms, we appreciate anyone stepping out of their comfort zone to raise money for our research.
What if I don't want to do my dare alone?
No problem, we at Children’s Cancer Institute will be hosting a skydive group dare where individuals can do their dare with others. See our dare ideas page for more information. Another option is to create a your own dare team or double dare another person to do the dare with you. These are great ways to create team engagement around the company or bonding with friends!
What if my team or I can't do my dare right now?
Whilst participants are encouraged to support during our focal period (June- September) the Dare the boss website is open 365 days a year, so if it better suits you and/or your company to do it another time, that is totally up to you.
Can I join a team after I've already registered?
